Passing Criteria

Each of these courses have individual tests and passing criteria. Most of the individual courses require a passing criteria of 80% with up to (3) attempts. 

Certificate of Completion

You will get a certificate of completion for each course that you complete. You will get an extra certificate of completion for the Commercial Driver Training Program after you have finished all 11 courses.

1) Hours of Service

STANDARD:  NSC Standard 9

TOPICS INCLUDED:  

  • The evolution of federal law governing the length of time employees are required to be on the job
  • An individual’s circadian rhythm and tiredness
  • When it is illegal to drive
  • Which automobiles are subject to the rules, and which are exempt?
  • Logbooks and categories for daily duty status are included in this section.
  • On-duty and off-duty limitations and rules
  • Requirements for sleeping berths
  • Cycles, cycle limits, cycle resets, and cycle switching.
  • Permits specific to certain kinds of cars are required.
  • Dispensations in the event of an emergency or hazardous road conditions.

  • Inspections

2) Cargo Securement Flatbeds

STANDARD:  NSC Standard 10

TOPICS INCLUDED:  

  • Regulations for the Safety of Motor Vehicles in the United States
  • Compliance, safety, and accountability are all important considerations.
  • Permits for Pre-Trip Planning
  • Inspections on a walk-around basis
  • Loading timber and building materials and securing them in the truck.

PASSING CRITERIA: 

Every participant must gain 80% marks to pass the course. It is possible to repeat the course a third time if the pass mark is not reached on the first or second attempt by the participants.

TIME REQUIRED:

It will take you approximately 60 minutes to complete the course.

3) Daily Pre-Trip Inspection

STANDARD:  NSC Standard 13

TOPICS INCLUDED:  

  • Preparing for the Pre-Trip Inspection (Module 1)
  • Performing an Air Brake System Inspection (Module 2)
  • Defects & Major Defects (Module 3)
  • Carrying out the Inspection Procedures (Module 4)

PASSING CRITERIA:

It will take you approximately 60 minutes to complete the course.

4) Weights and Dimensions

Topics covered:

  • Factors that influence commercial vehicle weight allowances
  • The legal load limit, required safety measures, and related exemptions
  • Factors that determine the maximum allowable length for a vehicle and load
  • The difference between primary highways and local roadways
  • Road bans and their impact on you
  • Conditions under which an over-dimensional permit must be obtained and used

Duration: Approximately 90 minutes

5) Defensive Driving

TOPICS INCLUDED:  

  • Maintaining a positive mindset when driving is essential.
  • Make a note of the methods and strategies that must be followed to guarantee the safety of your car.
  • Recognize and be prepared to deal with any road risks.
  • List the dangers of distracted driving.
  • In what ways should you be careful while driving in the rearview mirror?
  • Safely change lanes and cross junctions.
  • Recognize when it’s unsafe to drive in certain scenarios.
  • Your vehicle should be prepared for any bad driving circumstances, including winter.
