Working at Heights Refresher

This program provides workers who have already completed an CPO-approved working at heights course with a refresher course in the basics of implementing fall protection systems at their workplaces. Participants receive up-to-date information on the legislative requirements of fall protection, including how to recognize, assess, and control fall hazards. They will also have opportunities to practice identifying deficiencies while inspecting fall protection equipment.

Working at Heights

Employers must ensure that certain workers complete a working at heights training program that has been approved by the Chief Prevention Officer (CPO) and delivered by a CPO approved training provider before they can work at heights. The training requirement is for workers on construction projects who use any of the following methods of fall protection: travel restraint systems, fall restricting systems, fall arrest systems, safety nets and work belts or safety belts. This training requirement is in the Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Training Regulation and is in addition to training requirements under the Construction Regulation.

Confined Spaces

Upon completion of this in-person training course, participants will be knowledgeable about confined space requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and will be able to recognize confined spaces, describe the major hazards, identify controls

Aerial Work Platforms

Our course is designed to provide operators with the knowledge and skill to be able to operate the equipment safely and efficiently. Additionally, this course includes a full module on the use of fall protection equipment in connection with use of aerial work platforms

Safe Operation of a Lift Truck

Participants of this in-person training course will learn the essential principles involved in the safe operation of a lift truck.
These principles include:

  • understanding the limitations that affect truck stability and safe loading criteria
  • recognizing the hazards ahead of time that present a risk to your and those around the truck
  • understanding the fundamentals of handling high-risk load
  • knowing the legal responsibilities associated with lift truck.

Safe Operation of an Overhead Crane Training

Training and operator competency is key to safe crane use in the workplace. This program will provide participants with the knowledge required to use an overhead crane safely and efficiently. This course covers a variety of industrial type cranes including bridge, jib, and gantry cranes. In order to receive a certificate of competency, the participant must achieve a passing grade on the written in-class test, and pass the practical skills evaluation. The practical skills evaluation is to be performed at the worker’s place of employment.
